JOB SUMMARY: The Gun Loader’s primary responsibility is loading the Guns, keeping up to date the explosive inventory control list, ordering explosives and ensuring that the Perforation Equipment like GUN adapters, consumables and related equipment is maintained to the highest standards. The Gun Loader assists in performing test procedures as specified by the Wireline Supervisors. With supervisor, the Wireline Gun Loader sets up and operates assigned support equipment required for testing, evaluation, and facilities maintenance.

PHYSICAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Frequent Climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain)

  • Frequent lifting (70 pounds)

  • Frequent bending, twisting and standing

  • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions.

  • Potential exposure to chemicals and fumes or gasses in a shop environment

  • Exposure to long hours

  • Exposure to high noise

  • Exposure to explosives

  • ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Loads explosive charges and detonating cord into perforating gun carriers used in shooting holes through tubing, casings, and earth formations

  • Clean and service gun adaptors and chambers

  • Install O-rings and gun subs onto gun carriers to be ran in oil and gas wellbores

  • Assemble wireline perforating gun strings in a safe manner

  • Assemble TCP gun strings

  • Stores loaded guns, explosives, and related materials in storeroom according to established safety procedures.

  • Maintains inventory records and orders new supplies.

  • May keep gun and explosive records in compliance with local and federal laws

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • One (1) or more years of experience in industry related field

  • Some wireline training (preferred)

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple oral and written instructions and effectively communicate information to others

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.

  • Ability to think quickly and apply problem solving skills to situations as they come up in the field

  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to work with hand and power tools

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Working together in a positive team environment

  • Ability to operate independently is important

  • Ability to champion a company safety culture

  • Ability to promote safety awareness, follow policies & procedures on quality, health, safety & environment. Will also maintain required Quality & HSE certifications up to date.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • DOT Regulations

  • Explosives Safety (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of ATF and State Laws regarding explosives

  • Basic Electronics knowledge (Preferred)

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Experience

  • CDL A with Hazmat

  • Forklift Training (Preferred)

  • Lock out, Tag out

  • PEC Premier (Preferred)

  • First Aid (Preferred)

  • ATF Employee Possessor of Explosives (Preferred)

  • Must be able to obtain a State Blaster License
