POSITION TITLE: Internal Auditor DEPARTMENT: AdministrationREPORTS TO: Board of Directors FLSA STATUS: ExemptDATE: May 1, 2017PRIMARY FUNCTION:Responsible for the development and management of comprehensive and practical programs for auditing compliance of the operational, contractual, technical and financial areas within the Credit Union. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the day-to-day internal audit activities which consist of planning and organizing audits, preparing audit work papers and reports as well as making verbal and written communications to the Board of Directors and management of audit findings and recommendations. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Develop and maintain a working knowledge of credit union history, philosophy and organization. Support and implement the philosophy, direction, and objectives of Town and Country Credit Union.Comply with credit union policies; provide superior service to all members and maintain strict confidence of all member and credit union information.* Actively supports the culture and mission of the credit union.* Conducts and manages operational, contractual and internal financial compliance audits of systems, processes and operational activities; determines whether organizational units are in compliance with the Board of Directors' and management's policies, procedures and standards. Recommendations are made for modifying policies and procedures based on analysis and knowledge of the credit union, and to improve operations, reduce risk, reduce costs and enhance revenue opportunities.* Responsible for assessing the following factors for consumer, commercial and agricultural loans: accuracy of loan grade and risk rating; adequacy of underwriting; adequacy of loan monitoring; and the accuracy of the credit union's financial analyses.* Reviews the system of internal controls and quality of performance to enhance the likelihood that established objectives and goals will be achieved. Evaluates the effectiveness of business systems (i.e., financial; accounting; new products or service implementations, changes or deletions; loans and share accounts; loan suspense and exception accounts; and other operations) by applying audit techniques and financial standards. Analyzes and appraises the adequacy and effectiveness of the system. * Performs, evaluates and manages internal control reviews of various functions to ensure the safeguarding of assets, compliance with policies and procedures and reliability of information. * Plans and manages overall internal audit work schedules by identifying activities subject to audit. Develops and maintains a short and long-range plan for internal audit activities with input from the Board of Directors. Prepares internal audit reports and communicates results to all levels of management and the Board of Directors. * Ensures comprehensive and complete documentation is prepared and retained; assesses results for contractual compliance and represents the credit union in all meetings where internal audit findings are discussed. * Provides reports to the Board of Directors and management during and at the conclusion of all internal audits. These reports include recommendations for improving operations, strengthening controls, reducing costs and increasing revenues.* Coordinates the function of special engagements with external auditors, examiners and reports results of engagement to the Board of Directors and management. Assists external financial auditors and examiners when requested by the Board of Directors or management.* Provides a periodic report to the SVP, Chief Financial Officer outlining the status of all audits currently in progress. Provides quarterly verbal and written reports to the Board of Directors informing them of the results of all internal audits and special engagements conducted during the preceeding quarter along
