Responsible for continuity of operations within the facility by overseeing patient admissions and transfer activity while monitoring bed/patient care capacity both currently and prospectively. Responsible for facilitating continuous throughput of patients from all points of entry by utilizing effective verbal and written communication; must be able to make, efficient, effective clinical decisions; and coordinate and deploy ancillary services to needed areas. The patient placement coordinator is the liaison between clinical and ancillary departments. When needed, the Patient Placement Specialist will make final decisions regarding patient placement. This position requires a person who must be flexible, able to prioritize multiple tasks at one time, effectively manage conflict and stress, and assume a leadership position when needed. This position requires a thorough understanding of Sanford nursing units.Other duties expected within this role include but are not limited to: rounding in departments to communicate with clinical leaders, physicians, patients/families, and other healthcare team members ensuring quality care issues are addressed. Current knowledge related to departmental policies and each departments clinical practice. Must have current understanding of regulations and scope of practice for various roles.
Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Nurses performing nursing practices over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within one year from the date of hir. Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required; Master’s degree preferred. Must have knowledge of Sanford Health policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements. Requires high degree of system knowledge and excellent critical thinking skills. Must have a working knowledge of information systems, managed care and legal, eithical and safety policies. Must have 3-5 years nursing experience with additional clinical supervisory/management experience
