          JOB SUMMARY

          The Clinical Office Nurse answers telephone, routes calls and takes accurate and complete phone messages; prepares patients for exams and assists with procedures, per provider request; identifies changes or high risk situations in patient’s condition and takes appropriate actions; obtains chief complaint from patients; administers medication using the 5 rights; documents all authorized medication refills and the instructions given to the patient; assures lab work, tests, procedures and surgeries are scheduled; notifies pre-authorization and hospital of applicable cases; demonstrates knowledge of location, set-up and use of equipment used for assigned area, and reviews and documents pain level. Patients cared for include infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric.

          KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

          Required:
          ForNorth Dakotafacilities
          • Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

          • Licensed by the North Dakota Board of Nursing (if a resident ofNorth Dakotaor changing residence for longer than 30 days) or licensed by a member of the Compact State Agreement” if not a North Dakota resident. (If changing residence from aCompactStatetoNorth Dakota, will need to obtain aNorth Dakotalicense within 30 working days of obtaining new residency.)

          • Nurses who provide nursing care to patients calling from Minnesota will need to be licensed by the Minnesota Board of Nursing or will obtain their Minnesota license within eight (8) weeks from their first day of work (telephone calls from patients calling from Minnesota can not be taken from any nurse unless they have obtained their Minnesota license).

          Preferred:

          • Experience in a clinic setting.
