JOB SUMMARY

Provides service to patients in acute, short and long term care settings by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. Obtains a thorough medical history from patient and performs a physical exam to determine patient's needs. Analyzes information collected from patient and establishes a diagnosis. Consults with physician if necessary. Formulates a plan for treatment of the patient and prescribes medicine if necessary in order to aid recovery and manage pain. Makes necessary healthcare referrals. Counsels patients and family members on prevention and treatment plan for health issues. May participate in clinical research studies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of long term acute hospital patients. NP position working at Vibra Medical Center as part of the Sanford Hospitalist Department. Monday-Friday days with one weekend per month.

QUALIFICATIONS

None Required Minimum of high school education, however, some trade course classes in accounting, business and communications would be very helpful in this position. Previous experience in medical billing preferred. Computer skills essential. Must have excellent customer service skills to communicate with internal and external customers. Will be expected to use electronic billing. Must be accessible to other departments upon demand for inquiries regarding credit balances. Must demonstrate critical thinking skills to manage day to day basic operations or the ability to seek assistance when needed. Must be able to do work steadily, efficiently and show constant vigilance to the details of the work. Must be able to utilize all office equipment including personal computer and application software, printer, FAX, copier, multi-line telephone system. Must have good working knowledge of all insurance and/or government rules regarding payment, credit procedures, claims submittal and appeal processes. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style. Must be able to use appropriate reference materials when needed. Should be able to multi-task when needed.
