The Supervisor works under the supervision of the unit/department Director. The Supervisor assists the Director in the day to day planning, organization, directing and supervision of personnel on their specialty unit. The Supervisor assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises patient care on their specialty unit. Education: Nursing degree from an approved school of nursing; BSN required National certification or demonstrated progress towards completion. Licensure: License to practice professional nursing in the state of North Dakota. Experience: Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience; preferred. Skills: Working knowledge of basic clinical skills in delivery of patient care. Basic Life Support Certification within 480 hours of employment and meets re-certification as required. Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff. Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors and patients. Maintains confidentiality. Physical Effort: Medium: Involves a maximum physical effort requirement of 50 pounds. Hours of Work: Days, evening and nights. Rotating holidays and weekends may be required. Other: Works under the following conditions: potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical and infectious environmental hazards. Able to perform effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
