Position Purpose:

Systems Administrator I: This position assists the Enterprise software deployment, software packaging, Operating System (OS) Deployment, and Patch management efforts for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and its subsidiaries. The incumbent assists the day-to-day administration of Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) in a large multi-site environment. The scope of SCCM is all encompassing, from client endpoints to servers and as it relates to OS and Application deployment, patching, reporting, and backend maintenance. System Administrators are responsible for the remote desktop that employees and vendors access. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.

Systems Administrator II: This position is responsible for the Enterprise software deployment, software packaging, Operating System (OS) Deployment and Patch management efforts for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and its subsidiaries. The incumbent performs the day-to-day administration of Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) in a large multi-site environment. The scope of SCCM is all encompassing, from client endpoints to servers and as it relates to OS and Application deployment, patching, reporting, and backend maintenance. System Administrators are responsible for the remote desktop that employees and vendors access. Qualifications:

Systems Administrator I: To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have a basic knowledge of networking principles, communications technologies and security principles, and new computing technologies at a level acquired through the completion of a two-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field and two years of related information technology experience; or a four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field. Good customer service and time management skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communications skills are required. The incumbent must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. This position travels up to 5 percent of the time by car.

Systems Administrator II: To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have a basic knowledge of networking principles, communications technologies and security principles, and new computing technologies at a level acquired through the completion of a two-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field and five years of related information technology experience; or a four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and three years of related information technology experience. The incumbent must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. This position travels up to 5 percent of the time by car.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Occasionally, the incumbent works in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, and noise. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
