Position OverviewResponsible for selection and identification of suppliers, the purchasing function, and monitoring and evaluation of suppliers. Primary Job FunctionsResponsible for selection and development of reliable suppliers, control of pricing and quality of goods. Will follow up on open orders and expedite as necessary. Responsible for maintaining a computerized purchase and inventory system.Responsible to perform continuous improvement of the value stream purchasing processesResponsible for entering pertinent information into ERP software and checking reports for accuracy as needed (routings, cycle counts, inventory transactions, etc.).Will maintain customer contact regarding customer supplied product, defective parts, and follow up to assure corrective action is taken.Request quotations and secures bids, for raw materials and suppliesCoordinate with other departments in the development of product specifications and substitute materialsSupports freight coordinator and monitor the flow of incoming materialsActive participant in LEAN initiatives Reduces overall costs while improving safety, quality, and deliveryManages time effectively, strives to contain costs and reduce waste, and finds ways to optimize resources.Responsible for reviewing and processing claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment Negotiation support may include all aspects such as prices, lead times, terms, customer owned inventory, quality, transportation, and other contractual items;Helps maintain an economic level of inventory on-hand to assure production is not interrupted while shortening the supply chain and managing the flow.Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you collaborate with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.Help the company meet its Quality and Safety objectives.Other duties may also be assigned. Complexity/Decision MakingWorks on assignments that are semi-routine in nature. Generally determines appropriate action by independently referencing operation policies and procedures and using proven approaches. Assignments with a greater level of complexity may require assistance or guidance. Leadership/TeamworkHas contact with all levels of colleagues in all areas of the organization. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to collaborate effectively with customers and suppliers. Minimum RequirementsBachelor Degree in Business Administration or related field2+ years of related work experience in purchasing or inventoryIntermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, ect)Average written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling skillsAdvanced ERP system knowledge -OR-An acceptable combination of education and experience Physical RequirementsThis position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degreeMust have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 poundsMust have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairsStooping, crouching, kneeling and bendingHandling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activitiesVisual acuity is required to inspect work completed This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditionsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
