Responsible to manage the fresh procurement program and staff to achieve budgeted sales, gross profit and service levels for assigned categories. Plan, direct and monitor the total procurement programs to include negotiating the lowest cost of goods, implementing pricing programs, assisting in advertising plans development, and ensuring vendor support.
Bachelor's Degree (Required) Business Administration
or other related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Five years fresh category buying experience.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Responsible for the overall coordination of the procurement and distribution of fresh products (i.e. delis, meat, seafood, produce, etc.). Procure controlled brand and other fresh products purchased for assigned department. Manage order guide maintenance and development.
Responsible to achieve assigned fresh product department sales, layer gain, gross margin, etc. and manage outdated inventory and control expenses.
Partner with category management in the development of fresh advertising objectives, strategy, policies and plans. Recommend new items to be advertised and promoted. Interact with logistics to ensure proper freight matrix is achieved.
Assist in the development and implementation of fresh department assortments, product specification and merchandising programs.
Develop programs to meet the needs of our customer programs to include promotional, timelines, frequency and price. Manage on-going customer information communications.
Manage the coordination of fresh merchandising plans and programs to ensure product availability. Manage status reporting provided to merchandising staff.
Oversee inbound load composition, timing and destinations. Assist Logistics department with reviewing, analyzing, and determining inbound transportation methods.
Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals. Develop and monitor department budget as required.
Maintain current knowledge of legal regulations, industry trends and best purchasing practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes and to ensure company legal compliance.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong financial acumen and strategic problem solving, leadership, analytical, influencing, and negotiations skills. Proven experience working across business units to leverage resources and capabilities to accomplish company goals. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint). Working knowledge of purchasing systems, inventory systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and/or manufacturing processes based on assigned area. Ability to travel up to 25%.
