U.S. Bank Product Risk Officer - Deposits, Treasury Management & International in Fargo, North Dakota

US Bank’s Corporate and Commercial Banking (CCB) business line offers depository services, domestic treasury management, international treasury management and overseas banking to middle market, large corporate, commercial real estate, financial institution, non-profit and public sector clients. The Deposits Product Risk Officer will perform day-to-day oversight of all risk types associated with these business activities. Their primary focus will be operational risks; however, they will also serve as the business unit risk “clearinghouse” connecting with the credit, compliance, and legal risk specialists to provide a holistic view of the risk and control environment. The Product Risk Officer will have a deep knowledge of these product activities and be able to credibly challenge the control environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an effective partnership between the Line of Business, the Lines of Defense, Corporate Audit Services and CCB Risk.

  • Analyze and assess risks inherent to deposits, global treasury management and overseas banking activities in Corporate and Commercial Banking, as well as evaluate the adequacy of related controls.

  • The incumbent will partner with business line leaders to oversee the successful creation, implementation, and maintenance of an effective risk management framework. They will work with the business line to facilitate effective business change management. They will facilitate the identification of gaps and drive solutions that minimize losses resulting from inadequate internal processes, systems or human errors.

  • They will help ensure that business line procedures remain appropriate and prudent. This includes influencing policies and procedures to ensure risk gaps are addressed and appropriate control environments exist. Work with the business line to operationalize new policy and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with management to ensure new product development addresses known or potential risks.

  • Work with management to comprehensively define the risk appetite, key risk indicators and set scorecard risk limits for these product activities. Escalate any actual or anticipated breaches of scorecard risk limits.

  • Regularly produce information demonstrating compliance with the risk appetite, risk limits and the efficacy of controls within the business line related to these products.

  • Work as an ‘agent of change,’ providing credible challenge to the depository, global treasury management, and overseas banking process control environment status quo and developing solutions with business management.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Ten or more years of experience in an applicable risk management environment

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated strong understanding of risks and risk control environment.

  • Strong understanding of deposits, global treasury management and overseas banking products and related operational processes and regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide credible challenge and appropriately exercise authority in a collaborative environment.

  • Exceptional professional presence with strong skills in leadership and management of processes, projects and people.

  • Demonstrated advanced oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, planning and implementation skills and negotiation skills.

  • Strong PC literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
