Tesoro Senior Manager, Gathering Engineering in Mandan, North Dakota

  • Summary*

Manages Engineering team to support gathering operations and accomplish project goals in a safe, compliant, reliable, efficient, and profitable manner. Engineering team supports multiple expense, growth, and maintenance capital projects simultaneously, and supports operations in troubleshooting and optimization. Collaborates with Business Development, Operations, and the Capital Development group (FEL team) to develop growth capital projects.

  • Key Responsibilities*

  • Leads Gathering Engineering team to support Operations in troubleshooting, optimization, hydraulic modeling, and documentation of critical equipment and drawings of assets. Provides necessary engineering support for gathering maintenance activities.

  • Leads Gathering Engineering team to manage small income generating and sustaining capital and non-recurring expense projects, including the following: scoping evaluations and engineering (including third party engineering oversight); cost estimation; Authorizations for Expenditures (AFE) approval; material procurement; bid solicitation; contractor approval; and project coordination with field Operations.

  • Collaborates with Operations, Business Development, Capital Development, Environmental Health and Safety, Projects and Engineering, and Construction teams to assist in the development of growth capital projects, consistent with Logistics Project Management Process. Responsible for development and execution of small gathering, station, compression, and pipeline expense and capital projects.

  • Gathering Engineering team collaborates with Construction and Maintenance teams to manage the field execution of approved projects; ensuring that project execution complies with plan and meets agreed quality, cost and time parameters in a safe and environmentally sound and compliant manner. Liaises with third-party engineering to ensure conformance to contract. Reviews cost estimates and economic justifications on Authorizations for Expenditures (AFEs). Manages project risk assessment through development and implementation of risk response plan to monitor and control risks throughout project lifecycle.

  • Leads annual capital and non-recurring expense plan development and monthly spend forecasting.

  • EDUCATION*

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Engineering required.

  • EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum 10 years engineering and/or project experience in progressively responsible positions in the midstream industry.

  • Prior experience in gathering pipeline and compression engineering, project management, or operations required.
