Performs repairs involvingsome skill in the use of common maintenance tools of several trades.- Occasional weekend duties and on-call required.- Trains personnel in the operation of equipment.- Performs required manual labor in park maintenance projects.- Performs forestry and horticulture related maintenance.- Floods skating pond and rink.- Removes snow with equipment and shoveling.- Works cooperatively with Chahinkapa Zoo and other non-profits.- Performs related work as required.DESIRABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and PERSONAL TRAITSGraduation from high school and experience equivalent to a combination of experience and trainingwhich provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:- Ability to understand and follow relatively complicated instructions concerning job assignments.- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees,administrative supervisors, and the general public.- Ability to perform arduous tasks for extended periods of times in all types of weather conditions.- Working knowledge of common hazards and safety precautions necessary for light equipmentoperation.- Advanced knowledge of the type and uses of common hand tools, materials, and standard equipmentused in maintenance construction and repair.- Advanced skill in the operation and use of light equipment, hand tools and power equipment.- Ability to do physical work like weedeating, snow removal and flooding ice for extended periods.- Displays a positive attitude, strong work ethic and friendly personality.
